Monday 25th Feb - Friday 1st March 2013

Monday is our Library Day.  Our teacher was impressed this week at how we all used our quiet voices and we all sat down and read a book.

Some students helped Sharon harvest some of the vegetables from our garden.  Look at the yummy carrots we grew!

This term we are learning about volunteers and how they help in our community.  This week looked at different photos and listened to a story about each one.  We then grouped the photos into people who were volunteers and people who are not.  We came to the conclusion that volunteers are not paid for their work.

During Discovery Time today we made fruit butterflies and crate paper flowers.

18th Feb - 22nd Feb 2013

On Monday we had our Spud Competition.  Last year everyone in the school planted potato seeds in a bucket and this week we dug them out to see how many we had grown.  All of us got to take a bag home filled with potatoes   The record was 18 potatoes in one bucket!

On Thursday we visited the Mobile Library Bus.  We have a new bus driver this year.  Her name is Jenny and she is really nice.  She read us a book and we all got out a couple of books to take home.

On Friday we made marble paintings during Discovery and after morning tea we read with our buddies!

4th Feb 2013 - 15th Feb 2013

Welcome to the first post of 2013!  We have 11 students from last year and 8 new students joining us in the Pukeko Class.  We had a great first week, getting to know each other, our teacher and the classroom.

This week we have started to learn our routine and have done reading, writing and maths.  In maths this week we have been learning about data and putting that data into graphs.  We have been collecting lots of different information about the class and making big graphs.

In Discovery Time this morning, Nadine, Jasper mum, came and helped us make piklets.  We then ate them for morning tea!  Here is a few pictures from Discovery.
