Monday 20th May - Friday 24th May 2013

Woah what a busy week we have had!  First of all we say a big welcome to Sammie who turned 5 last Friday and started with us on Monday.

This week we have learnt the letters c, k, e and h.  In maths we have been learning about fractions.  We all know what a half is and most of us are getting pretty good at identifying quarters too!

As this week is Science Week, on Wednesday we had up until lunch doing science experiments.  We got into our Whanau Groups and went to each house to learn and experiment with different things.  Some examples are making volcanoes in the sand pit, finding out what items float and sink, and melting ice with different household ingrediants such as salt, baking soda etc.  This was a great day and we all enjoyed it!

We have been learning about responsibility this week as being a good citizen.  Here are a couple of comics we made.

Today during Discovery Time we made pizzas and cut them into halves and quarters.  We also made penguins out of whole, half and quarter circles.  As the rest of the school on a trip to Te Papa for the day, we had a special treat and watched a movie for the last half hour of the day.

This week we have been learning the letters i, p and n.  We read poems about Iganas in the Ivy!

As part as our 'Being a good citizen' topic we have been looking at respect this week.  We used the ipads to make a comic about what respect looks like in our classroom.  We have been learning about what makes a good citizen.

During Discovery Time we make cool Pukeko badges to show that we are all part of the Pukeo Class.  We made paper planes and did a whole range of other activities such as played with the dress ups. monkey gears, dolls house, computers and jumping frogs.
