Monday 26th - Friday 30th August 2013

On Tuesday Charli brought her puppy in for her news.  Her name is Roxy and she is very cute!

We finished Stage 4 Phonics this week and next week start on Stage 5.  We are doing awesome at our sounds!

On Thursday we finished our monsters that we have been working on.  We have typed out our stories ourselves and they are on the wall.  Come in and have a look and a read!

This week has been the last week of Gymnastics.  We have had a great time doing this and have all given it our best go.  Today Charli showed us her Gymnastics routine, what a little gymnast super star!  Next week we will start our Skipping unit and will do this for the rest of the term.

Today, during Discovery Time we made Fathers Day cards and gift tags.  We also learnt a few more games such as Trouble and Yahtzee.

Monday 19th August to Friday 23rd August 2013

This week has been Enviropostcard week.  This is where Enviroschools make postcards from recycled materials and write about what they do as an Enviroschool.

Nadine had the brilliant idea of making postcards from bits of fabric, chippie wrappers and plastic.  On Wednesday afternoon, we paired up with the Kea class and wrote our message about what we do at Plateau School to help the enviroment, and on Thursday, we got creative making the front of our postcards. On Friday we stuck on the stamps and addresses, and put them in the post.

Today during Discovery Time, we made marble obstacle games, origami crowns and learnt a few new games.

Monday 12th - Friday 16th August 2013

As part of our games topic, this week we have been looking at lots of different games, playing them and evaluating them.  We learnt how to play marbles on Tuesday, and most of us agreed that it was a fun game and we would like to play again.

We have been looking at symmetry in Maths this week.  We have been completing lots of patterns to make them symetrical and made buffterflies with symmetrical patterns by painting one side, and folding it in half to get the same pattern on the other side!

In Art we made patterns, by blowing paint around with straws.  Once they had dried, we used our imaginations to create monsters out of the patterns.  We have all done a fantastic job and next week we will start writing about our monsters.

On Thursday Ben brought in two of his rabbits to show us for his news.  Their names are Sooki and Fluffyball and they big, cute and fluffy!  Thanks for sharing them with us Ben!

During Discovery Time we played lots of games including Jenga, Tiddlywinks, Twister and Marbles again.  This was heaps of fun and we all enjoyed trying the new games.  We also made pikelets and flowers from toilet rolls.
