28th October - 1st November 2013

It's been a short week this week, but a busy one!

For our topic we have been learning the life-cycle of the Pukeko.  We all did a great job at sequencing each stage and labelling the pictures.

We have been looking at money this week for maths. We have done lots of focusing on making $5 or $4 from $1 and $2 coins and adding different values together.

We have put the forth layer onto our paper mâché piggy banks now, so the final layer will go on next week and then we can start the nose and legs.

Here are a few photos from Discovery Time this morning.

Monday 21st October - Friday 25th October 2013

On Monday afternoon we had a performer come to Plateau School and put on a show for us. It was called the "Spirit of Polynesia" and it was a man named Bernard who had grown up all round the world and learnt many different dances and cultures from other countries.  He showed us a dance from America called the hoop dance and then did dances from New Zealand and Hawaii.  He was very good and we all enjoyed the show. We watched a few YouTube videos of his dances as well.

14th October - 18th October 2013

Wow, we are in term 4 already! We have had a great first week back.

In writing we are learning how to write a recount and we have all written some great stories about our holidays.
We are back to doing basic facts three times a week and there was some big improvements from after the holidays, so well done for the practise!

We have started a new art project of paper mâché piggy banks. We have managed to get two layers of paper on our balloons so far.

We are starting a new topic of life cycles. This week we looked at the life cycle of a butterfly.

Clever Pukeko's making a sentence from the book they had been reading.
