17th February - 21st February 2014

We are looking at numbers for Maths this week.  We have been ordering numbers and starting on our basic facts.  Here we are playing a number order game.

On Thursday we finished our Circle Art.  It is now up on the wall so come in for a look!

During Discovery Time we made lions by gluing on pasta for its mane, cotton balls for its nose and drawing on its eyes.

Next week we will be going swimming everyday and doing lessons with instructors from the aquatic centre, so remember to bring your togs everyday next week!

10th February - 14th February 2014

It was our first full week back this week and we have had a good one!
Monday was busy with swimming and Kiwikick coming in.  In Kiwikick we learnt how to throw and catch an AFL ball.

For reading we have been setting up the routines and learning all the games so we can play them by ourselves.  In Maths we have been looking at data. We have been gathering data about the students in our class and turning it into graphs.

We have been making some cool 'circle art' paintings for our classroom wall. We started with stamping black circles onto paper using a yogurt container and once it had dried we started to paint the circles different colours.  Hopefully we should have these finished by next week.

During Discovery Time we made Valentines Day cards.

Monday 3rd February - Wednesday 5th February 2014

Welcome everyone to Term 1 of 2014.  This term the Pukeko Class consists of 11 lovely students, who have had a fantastic start the new school year!

We have had a nice week settling back into school.  This week we have taken it easy getting to know our teacher and the new classroom.  We have drawn pictures and written stories about our holidays, made Pukeko's, made a starting school booklet, and done lots of activities to remember the Plateau School rules and Pukeko Class rules.

It's been a great week and next week we will be ready to get back into the proper routine of reading, writing, maths, topic, discovery time and of course swimming!
