Monday 23rd March - Friday 28th March 2014.

Monday was our final session of Kiwikick.  We put all the skills we had been learning over the past few weeks into a game.

For art this week we are looking at an artist called Picasso.  We are drawing portraits of ourselves with white crayon on coloured card.  We are going to cut them up and stick them together in different places.

During Discovery Time today we got creative and made things out of the boxes, did painting, played with the train set and super gears and made kites.

Monday 17th March 2014  - Friday 21st March 2014

We have finished learning all the letters and their sounds now.  Next week we are learning two letter combinations that make one sound, for example ch, th and sh.

On Thursday we did something called 'rainbow hands'.  We traced around our hand and then went around the outline with different colours.  Then we coloured them with crayons and pastels.  Some of us had time to do ur feet too!  This is how they turned out.

Today in Discovery Time we made masks and dragonflies.

Thursday 13th March 2014

Today we made some books about long, short and tall.  We went around the school and classroom and took photos of some objects and then used the photos to make a book.  We made these books by ourselves and inserted all the photos and wrote all the text.
Here they are below.

Please note as these were made on the iPad, they can not be viewed in the same version on a desktop or laptop computer.  Therefore I have converted the books to another version that is viewable on the Blog. During this process however, it seemed to make a double up of each page and not centre some of the images.

Click on the hyper-links below to view the books.  We hope you enjoyed them, we worked really hard on making them!

Monday 10th March - 14th March 2014

This week in maths we have been doing measurement (length). We have been doing lots of comparisons between long, short and tall and have been measuring the length of the classroom and ourselves!

On Thursday we finished off our portraits.  We cut a photo in half and drew the other side of our face.  We have done a great job; they are now hanging up so come in and have a look!!

Friday is Discovery day! Today we made cardboard stand up dinosaurs.  The dolls house and dolls were a hit too!

Monday 3rd March - Friday 7th March 2014

This week was the last week of our swimming lessons from the H2O instructors.  The lessons have been great and we have all learnt some new skills.  Next week swimming returns to normal days (Mon, Wed and Fri) providing it is not too cold.

We have been doing some great writing this week.  Here is some photos of us writing a story together before we go off and do independent writing.

The letters we have learnt this week are o, u, l and f.  We are getting really good at these and will know all the sounds of the alphabet in no time!

For topic this week we have been making a book about making good choices.  Hopefully it can be put on the blog so we can show our family and friends at home.  We are aiming for next week!

During Discovery Time today we made colourful spinning wheels and did puppet shows for each other.

Monday 24th Feb - Friday 28th Feb 2014

We have had an extremely busy week as everyday we have had swimming lessons.  Two instructors from H2O have come in to give us half an hour lessons.  They have been really good and we have all learnt new skills. Monday was extra busy as we had Kiwikick as well.

The letters we have been learning this week are h, r, m, d and g.  We have been practicing how to form and write these letters correctly and of course their sounds.

For art this week we experimented with white crayons and dye.  We practiced drawing shapes and then watched them appear when we went over the paper with coloured dye.

In Discovery Time on Friday we baked pikelets, made felt pictures, practiced fine motor skills with the hammer and nails and got creative with the straws.
