Monday 14th - Thursday 17th April 2014

Wow, it's the last week of the term already!  It's been a short one but there has been heaps happening!

Monday was the grand opening of our new library.  We watched it get blessed and Chris Hipkins cut the ribbon.  There was even enough cake for us to have a piece with our milk!

Monday was also the day for our time-out party.  We had a disco in the hall with music, games and a smoke machine.  We had lots of fun dancing.

Tuesday was swimming sports.  Everyone in Pukeko participated which was fantastic, and it was great to see lots of parent support there too.

As part as library week Alex came and read us a story in the library.  We love listening to Alex read to us!

Wednesday was dress up as your favourite book character day.  Everyone looked fantastic and it was great to meet in the hall and see everyone's costume.  Mrs Nicol set up a treasure hunt for us, where we had to find the 5 'Wally's' (from the Where's Wally books) hiding around the school. We did this with our buddies from buddy reading.  We all won a lolly pop!

Today was also our marble jar party.  Each time the whole class is on task we get a marble in the jar.  When the jar is full of marbles we have a marble jar party!  We chose to have a choosing time with iPads, music, colouring in, painting and mobilo.

We has Discovery Time on Thursday and once again the 12 Tui's joining us next term came over.  We had an Easter theme today and made bunny ears and noses! We enjoyed having the Tiu's in our class.

Today we also watched an Easter movie called Hop.

After lunch we discovered that Easter Bunny had visited our classroom, and we did an Easter Egg hunt!  We all searched together and at the end we divided up our findings among everyone!

Have a fun and safe holidays, see you next term!

Monday 7th April - Friday 11th April 2014

We have been finishing off our topic this week, by looking at healthy choices. We have been learning about what foods are good for us and keep us healthy, as well as other choices we can make to keep our bodies healthy.  For example, brushing our teeth or washing our hands.

Keeping with the portrait theme, on Thursday we drew big A3 portraits of ourselves and used paint to add colour to them. We will finish these next week.

We had 12 students from Tui come and join us for Discovery Time today.  They will be joining our classroom next term, so today was a great way to introduce them to our class.  We made paper bag houses and all had a great time.  The Tui's worked really well in Pukeko and the Pukeko students were great at making them feel welcome.

31st March - 4th April 2014

On Tuesday we had our fun run.  It was a very hot afternoon but all Pukeko's did their best and ran around the school to raise money for EOTC.  Well done everybody for giving it a go.

This week for Maths we have been looking at shape and space.  We have been looking at the properties of shapes and identifying shapes in everyday life.  Here are a few photos that we took around the school and then used the interactive whiteboard to see what shapes we could find.

On Thursday we finished our Picasso pictures.  We cut our portraits from last week into 9 pieces and then glued them in different positions.  We then had time to make faces by cutting out different eyes, nose, ears and mouth templates and sticking them on.

Today during Discovery Time we made fruit kebabs.  We also had some big blocks that we built a house out of!
