Monday 22nd - Friday 26th September 2014

Last week of term 3 and we have been very busy!

On Tuesday it was 'clean up NZ' day so each class picked up rubbish around different parts of Te Marua.  Pukeko and Tui was in charge of cleaning Plateau School.  We did a great job but unfortunately found quite a bit of rubbish.

Tuesday was also the day of our Marble Jar Party.  On Thursday last week we earned our last marble and then we planned what we wanted to do.  We voted on having a pajama party, with a treasure hunt and ice-blocks.  We had a great time!

During Discovery Time today Kody's mum, Amy came in and did some baking with us.  We made pikelets.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday.  See you next term!

Monday 15th - Friday 19th September 2014

We have been doing lots of problem solving in maths this week.  Here we are working out, if we had 5 cars, and three are in the garage, how many would be in the driveway?

In writing, we have been learning how to write descriptions.  This week we wrote descriptions of ourselves.  They are now up in the classroom, so come in for a read!

Today Cole's mum and dad brought in a van de graaff generator that they had made.  We enjoyed learning about static electricity and what happens when you put certain items on it.  Cole then showed us what it can do to our hair when we touch it.   A couple of Pukeko's then had a go!

During Discovery Time today we made paper dolls and experimented with magnets.

Jordan was the Assembly helper today.  We'll done Jordan, you did a great job.

Monday 8th - Friday 12th September 2014

On Wednesday Mark Fenwick from NIWA came to talk to us.  He is a marine biologist and talked to us about some marine life he has worked with and what we can do to keep our oceans clean and stop some sea life becoming endangered.  He had lots of cool things to show us and was really interesting to listen to.

Monday 1st September - Friday 5th September 2014

We have been learning more about the Maui dolphin and how they are becoming endangered.  This week we looked at an 8 year old girls blog who is passionate about saving the dolphins.  Her name is Calista, and below is the link if you would like to look at it at home.

Today we had Whanau Groups.  Each group is looking an enviro aspect of the school.  Yellow Whanau Group were looking at the compost and the benefits of composting in our school.

We won class of the week this week for our great descriptions we have been writing.   We'll done Pukeko!
