Life straw challenge

On Wednesday the Junior School participated in a Sports afternoon. Each of the classes had planned and organised an activity. Our aim for the afternoon was to raise money to be able to donate a water filter for a village in Nepal through Lifestraw. We decided to do this as a result of our Inquiry this term. The focus was on Water and as we realised how hard access to clean drinking water is for many people around the world we wanted to do something to help others.
Pukeko organised a Wheels challenge. These photos are of Kiwi children taking part.

Following the rotation around the four different activities we had a treasure hunt.
At the end we could get a slice of watermelon. The watermelon was donated by PakNSave after Ariella asked them to support our Lifestraw Challenge. Well done Ariella!
What a great way to finish a successful and fun afternoon.

We have raised $237 towards the $350 which was our goal. Thank you to everyone who supported us.

Swimming again

Our school pool has opened for this summer's swimming season. On Friday we had our first swim. For many of the children in Pukeko the swimming pool is their favourite place in the school.
We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful facility here at school!
